The M3 workshop series includes 6 core training topics and will provide teachers with highly actionable professional development and coaching. They will learn to transition from a “one-size-fits-all” instructional model to a hands-on workshop model that effectively integrates critical math standards and practices.

Demystifying Fractions - AUDIENCE: Grades: 3rd - 5th
Let’s go beyond “Don’t ask why, invert and multiply.” It’s time we help students build a strong conceptual understanding of fractions using a variety of visual models, concrete manipulatives, and hands-on activities.

Learning how to build a foundational understanding of fractions sets students up for success when they move to algorithms and abstract equations.

In this workshop, you will learn:
• The progression of fractions with concrete examples for each grade
• Utilize a variety of concrete tools to help students understand the why before the how with fractions. Games and activities for purposeful practice
