Mr. Van Tol has more than 20 years of experience in education administration, community development, talent & economic development, including early childhood systems-building, early childhood education, special education, school health, school safety, school nutrition and before/after school programs. All of this work has required forming strong community and business partnerships in order to strengthen local systems that serve families and young children. Currently, he is responsible for a variety of local early childhood initiatives at the Bay-Arenac Intermediate School District, including supervision of the Great Start Collaborative and Starting Strong programs.
Moreover, Mr. VanTol is leading the Out-of-School Time (OST) STEM Network for the Great Lakes Bay Regional Alliance. This effort is focused on incubating STEM partnerships and high quality cradle-to-career STEM learning experiences for youth (and families) when they are not in formal educational settings, i.e., before and after school programs, summer camps, scouting programs, outdoor education and nature center programs, museums, zoo/s, libraries, community centers, etc.
Mr. VanTol and his family reside in Essexville, MI. He enjoys being active in regional community development, philanthropic and economic development projects as well as outdoor activities, including skiing, boating, hiking, running, and traveling.
