Behavioral Threat Assessment & Management Basic Training (BTAM)
Tuesday August 4, 2026 8:00am - 3:00pm EDT
Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management (BTAM) is a fact-based, systematic process designed to identify, assess, and manage potentially dangerous or violent situations. Over 20+ years of research by the Secret Service supports that BTAM is very effective in identifying and mitigating behaviors of concern by helping to engage additional interventions and supports. The school Behavioral Threat Assessment & Management (BTAM) training is based upon research and best practices developed by the U.S. Secret Service.

BASIC TRAINING
The basic training teaches threat assessment teams how to effectively conduct a threat assessment according to best practices outlined by the United States Secret Service National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC). The goal of BTAM is to identify, engage, and work collaboratively with students and families to mitigate life situational factors contributing to thoughts of violence and aggression.

The one-day basic training workshop covers the following topics:
• Understanding school violence and implications for prevention
• What is BTAM, and what it’s not.
• 8 steps in developing and operating an effective school threat assessment program
• Critical steps to conducting a thorough threat assessment process
• Tabletop Exercise - screening, inquiry/investigation/assessing and analyzing
• Developing and implementing case management plans
• Tabletop Exercise - identifying resources and creating the management plan
• Summary / Q & A

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the course, participants will:
• Understand major facts about school violence and how prevention is possible.
• Be familiar with the principles of behavioral threat assessment and why schools should use it.
• Know how to build a threat assessment program using the 8 Steps
• Gain practice using threat assessment procedures through multiple tabletop exercises
• Understand how to work a threat assessment case
• How to screen cases to see if a threat assessment is warranted
• How to gather information from multiple sources
• How to analyze the information using 11-Key Questions
• How to make an assessment
• How to develop a case management plan to reduce risk

We highly recommend that school/district BTAM teams attend the training together. Critical team members include administrators (principals/assistant principals/deans), school psychologists, counselors, social workers, school resource officers, and law enforcement. Other important professionals can also include behavioral interventionists, special education professionals/case managers, nurses, and community mental health professionals providing services in the schools and/or those who may help work threat assessment cases.

Numeracy Development - AUDIENCE: Grades: PK-2nd
Are your students counting only on their fingers or doing one-to-one counting with touch and counting to give you a total? Students might be fast counters, but that doesn’t mean they have the necessary numeracy development skills. Let’s peel back the layers of numeracy and change the way you think about numeracy development with young children.

This foundational workshop will equip you to:
• Use inquiry-based questioning to help students explain their math thought processes
• Peel back the layers in numeracy from PK to 2nd grade
• Implement numeracy talks in the classroom
• Discover easy-to-implement numeracy screeners, games and activities

Sexual Health Education Resource Exchange & Educator Network (SHEREN)-Session 1
Tuesday October 27, 2026 1:30pm - Thursday April 8, 2027 3:00pm EDT
A Professional Learning Community Centered on Real-World Practice & Curated Resources

The Sexual Health Education Resource Exchange & Educator Network (SHEREN) is a professional learning community designed for educators teaching sexual health education in grades 6–12, from puberty instruction through high school coursework. SHEREN provides a collaborative space for educators to exchange high-quality resources, share practical classroom experiences, and learn from one another to strengthen instruction and student engagement.

Rather than replacing existing trainings such as Puberty 101 or the Reproductive Bootcamp, SHEREN serves as an additional layer of support, helping educators adapt trusted materials and strategies to meet the unique needs of their students, schools, and communities. The network emphasizes educator voice, practical application, and professional autonomy while fostering ongoing peer learning and problem-solving.

Topics may include legal compliance, best practices in sexual health education, navigating sensitive topics, curriculum and program planning, instructional strategies, and emerging issues identified by participating educators. SHEREN is intended to be responsive, relevant, and grounded in real classroom practice.

Educators interested in joining this collaborative network are encouraged to register to receive virtual links, calendar invites, and information about upcoming sessions.

Sexual Health Education Resource Exchange & Educator Network (SHEREN)-Session 2
Tuesday January 26, 2027 3:30pm - 4:30pm EST

LIMITED
Wednesday February 24, 2027 8:30am - 3:00pm EST
Limited Capacity seats available
The M3 workshop series includes 6 core training topics and will provide teachers with highly actionable professional development and coaching. They will learn to transition from a “one-size-fits-all” instructional model to a hands-on workshop model that effectively integrates critical math standards and practices.

Visual Models for Word Problems - AUDIENCE: Grades: K- 5th
Do your students often guess and check and appeal and ask you to tell them which operation to use when solving word problems? It’s time we flip the script and help teachers gain confidence in teaching word problems with the power of visual models.

Our step-by-step method provides a reading comprehension strategy for solving word problems to help students build a deeper understanding of problem-solving.

In this workshop, you will learn:
• How to help students use visual models as a reading comprehension strategy for word problems
• How to code word problems by type so you can better instruct students on the different types of problems they will encounter.
• Write a story problem based on a visual model.

Sexual Health Education Resource Exchange & Educator Network (SHEREN)-Session 3
Wednesday April 21, 2027 1:30pm - 2:30pm EDT
