Sexual Health Education Resource Exchange & Educator Network (SHEREN)-Session 1
Tuesday October 27, 2026 1:30pm - Thursday April 8, 2027 3:00pm EDT
A Professional Learning Community Centered on Real-World Practice & Curated Resources

The Sexual Health Education Resource Exchange & Educator Network (SHEREN) is a professional learning community designed for educators teaching sexual health education in grades 6–12, from puberty instruction through high school coursework. SHEREN provides a collaborative space for educators to exchange high-quality resources, share practical classroom experiences, and learn from one another to strengthen instruction and student engagement.

Rather than replacing existing trainings such as Puberty 101 or the Reproductive Bootcamp, SHEREN serves as an additional layer of support, helping educators adapt trusted materials and strategies to meet the unique needs of their students, schools, and communities. The network emphasizes educator voice, practical application, and professional autonomy while fostering ongoing peer learning and problem-solving.

Topics may include legal compliance, best practices in sexual health education, navigating sensitive topics, curriculum and program planning, instructional strategies, and emerging issues identified by participating educators. SHEREN is intended to be responsive, relevant, and grounded in real classroom practice.

Educators interested in joining this collaborative network are encouraged to register to receive virtual links, calendar invites, and information about upcoming sessions.

Hybrid Reproductive Health Bootcamp - Day 1
Monday March 1, 2027 8:30am - 11:30am EST
This training is designed for health and physical education teachers, school counselors, and other educators responsible for delivering reproductive health education in schools. Whether new to teaching this content or looking for ways to enhance current instruction, participants will gain valuable insights, practical tools, and collaborative learning experiences to bring back to their classrooms.

Day 1:  An online virtual session with pre-work is required (information sent at least two weeks before the end of registration). Educators will focus on HIV prevention and learning evidence-based strategies to teach students about transmission, risk reduction, and stigma.

Participants will explore current HIV trends, prevention methods (including PrEP and condoms), and Michigan laws related to HIV education. Through engaging activities, they will practice responding to students' common questions, analyzing misconceptions, and modeling inclusive, trauma-informed approaches to instruction.

By the end of the day, participants will leave with practical tools and resources to confidently deliver HIV prevention lessons that align with best practices and state guidelines.
